Within the measures to improve sustainability and reduce the carbon footprint, ILPEA has installed solar panels at the headquarters of the Automotive division in Polinyà, Barcelona. This panels can generate 20% of the electrical energy consumed at this plant.
ILPEA wanted to take advantage from the location of the plant in a very sunny environment, installing a total of 150 solar panels that are capable of producing a total of 140,000 kWh / year, providing a very significant energy savings and the use of solar energy, a renewable and clean resource that reduces CO2 emissions and contributes to the preservation of the environment.
In a business context of high dependence on electricity to carry out all the productive processes, the fact of installing photovoltaic panels helps to cope with recent increases in energy costs. The installation of the solar panels is included in the framework of improving the sustainability of the company in all its areas of action and in the enviromental principles.
In addition, this energy is compatible with other energy sources, which allows ILPEA to progressively reduce its carbon footprint without causing a major problem for the company’s own operations and allowing it to become less dependent on traditional energy sources.
This installation is being monitored monthly to ensure the optimal performance of the installation and identify possible failures or errors throughout the life of the panels.
As mentioned, solar energy is a renewable and inexhaustible resource that helps us reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to the preservation of the environment. This allows ILPEA to reduce electricity costs and be a more sustainable company.
